Logistics provider Geodis has achieved record half-year (H1) revenues and ebit in the first six months of this year — driven by growth in intercontinental transport and increased e-commerce demand in the US and Europe.

In its 2021 half-year financial results, the company posted revenues of €4.9bn — a 21% year-on-year increase on a year earlier.

Ebit climbed 60% year on year to €458m.

Marie-Christine Lombard, chairman of Geodis’ executive board, commented: “These solid results support our ability to invest in growth while investing in the ecological transition of all our activities.

“Our good performance has enabled us to strengthen our investments in the company’s digital transformation and to self-finance our latest acquisition, Pekaes, a leading distribution network in Poland, a strategic country for Geodis.

“These solid results are in line with our ‘Ambition 2023′ strategic plan, which aims to achieve growth for the group at least equal to that of the global logistics market over the period, and to accelerate the conversion of this growth into earnings.”

Geodis said notable achievements in H1 2021 include meeting its customers’ airfreight demands, “despite the extreme tension in the sea and airfreight market”, with its new AirDirect product, which includes a route between Shanghai and Guadalajara.

“Unique to the market, this charter service already exists between Europe, China and the United States,” the company said.

It also offered air and sea charters to meet customer requirements.

Additionally, Geodis launched its carbon offset programme, which is part of its goal to to its CO2 emissions by 30% by 2030.
